Center Parcs injects £20m into Elveden to cater to 3G audience

The term refers to large groups of visitors who often bring up to three generations of their family to the resort. Center Parcs have noted the increase in this type of demographic, meaning they’ve begun upgrading the accommodation and facilities across their resorts in order to cater to these large parties.

Elveden’s General Manager, James Barrett, said: “We increasingly see not just families coming on holiday but coming with grandparents and extended family.”

The popular holiday destination has also extended and improved its recreational and catering facilities, making them more fit for this growing audience. Two of its restaurants and their bowling alley have been fully refurbished, and the popular climbing wall and recreational activities have expanded to cater to a growing number of customers.

Sherwood Forest, another one Center Parcs’ holiday resorts, has already increased the size of some of its lodges to accommodate bigger groups into their park, something that Mr Barrett is thinking of implementing if this type of visitors keep coming to the resort.

In the last financial year, Center Parcs invested £95m across all of its UK parks, and they plan to spend a further £80m in the coming year.

Elveden Forest’s turnover reached £92m last year, making it the most successful out of all of Center Parcs’ holiday villages.

Mr Barrett said: “We have to upgrade to meet our guests’ needs. Because we are not resting on our laurels, that is why so many guests are coming back.”

Amongst the extensions to Elveden Forest’s entertainment offer is the new adult quad bike safari, which will launch this August bringing another adrenalin-fuelled activity to guests at the resort.

Construction for a new 51-bedroom hotel, three waterside lodges and nine three-bedroom executive lodges is also underway. The new accommodation units will be build by the village’s lake and is expected to be completed next March.
